Jurnee Cotton, Aquatics Director

Jurnee Cotton grew up around the Y with her siblings— playing in sports, attending swim lessons, and going to summer camps.

During high school, she did everything— from playing sports, choir, drama, and even chess club. Her passion was animals, which eventually led to her going to GSU to become a veterinarian, however, her focus swapped to a goal of becoming an Echocardiologist and getting a bachelor’s in biology. She worked at Splash in the ‘Boro and there she fell in love with coaching swim teams, which led her to meet Richard Kennedy the head coach for Albany Area YMCA Stingrays Swim Team. He suggested to her that she should apply for the aquatic’s director job at his Y.

She started working at the Y on September 1st and has loved every minute of it! She loves seeing the smiles on the members’ faces when they come into the aquatics part of the building. It’s a blessing to be here and have so many people rooting for you!
